Peaceful protest action set for Sandton

SANDTON – Earthlife Africa and the Vaal Environmental Justice Alliance have received approval from the Johannesburg Metro Police Department to host a peaceful environmental protest.

Motorists are advised of a planned protest march scheduled for November 19 outside of the Sasol building on Katherine Street in Sandton.

According to Sandton Central Management District, two groups, namely Earthlife Africa and the Vaal Environmental Justice Alliance, have received approval from the Johannesburg Metro Police Department to host a peaceful environmental protest.

Members of Earthlife Africa are scheduled to picket on Katherine Street from 09:00 to 12:00.

Members of the Vaal Environmental Justice Alliance are scheduled to march from the Sandton Sports Club (George Lee Park) at 11:00 (crossing Grayston Drive, Alice Lane, Rivonia Road) to the Sasol building on Katherine Street.

The group are expected to hand over a memorandum to Sasol representatives.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the abovementioned routines.
