Take note: Sandton road closures ahead of 947 Ride Joburg

As the 947 Ride Joburg, previously known as the 947 Cycle Challenge, returns for it 25th edition, residents are encouraged to take note of the following temporary road closures on November 21.

“Your cooperation ensures the safety of cyclists and their loved ones,” said 947 in a statement.

The following roads in the Sandton and surrounding area will be temporarily closed:

M1 South – 03:00 to 16:00

• Buccleuch Interchange to Columbine Avenue
• No vehicle access on southbound carriageway.
• Crossings: Marlboro Drive, Grayston Drive, Corlett Drive, Atholl Oaklands Road, Glenhove Road, 11th Avenue, Riviera Road, Oxford Road and Smit Street.

Woodmead Drive/R55 – 05:30 to 12:45

• Woodmead off-ramp on the M1 North
• No vehicle access
• Alternative route: Marlboro Drive off-ramp and Pretoria Main Road via Maxwell Drive

Woodmead Drive/R55 – 05:30 to 13:30

• Woodlands Drive to Maxwell Drive
• Contraflow east carriageway from Maxwell Drive (World of Golf) to Woodlands Drive.
• No access to Pretoria Main Road, access only to M1 North
• Access to Pretoria Main Road via Maxwell Drive only

Woodmead Drive/R55 – 05:30 to 13:30

• Maxwell Drive to Allandale Road
• No vehicle access

Woodmead Drive/R55 – 05:30 to 13:30

• Shakespeare Road to Dytchley Road

Grosvenor Road – 06:00 to 14:30

• Galloway Avenue, and Crawford Drive to Moray Drive
• No vehicle access

Moray Drive – 06:00 to 14:30

• Grosvenor Road to Cumberland Avenue
• No vehicle access

Cumberland Avenue – 06:00 to 14:40

• Moray Drive to Homestead Avenue
• No vehicle access

Homestead Avenue – 06:00 to 14:40

• Cumberland Avenue to Bram Fischer Drive
• No vehicle access
