In tandem with charity

HURLINGHAM – The pair will be riding on a tandem bike to raise funds for Rays of Hope, who does extensive work in uplifting those in need in Alexandra.

Local residents Lucky Ledwaba and Ian Anderson are appealing to the community to support their 947 Ride Joburg race on November 21 in support of the Rays of Hope foundation.

The pair will be riding on a tandem bike to raise funds for the Hurlingham-based non-profit organisation that does extensive work in uplifting the lives of those in need in the neighbouring community of Alexandra.

Anderson is an avid cyclist who retired from the financial sector many years ago while Ledwaba is currently studying graphic design.

According to Rays of Hope’s Thando Duma, the pair met through the organisation’s cycling group which is why the ride is so special to them and the foundation.

“The relationship between Ian and Lucky has grown over the years, and despite their economic, cultural and age differences [55 years] they are both passionate about what they are doing and striving towards a common purpose.”
