Saints host successful water polo invitational

BRYANSTON – The 27th annual tournament was held at St Benedict’s in Bedfordview due to the college’s 50m pool being out of commission.

This year’s St Stithians College Water Polo Invitation kicked off on October 21 with a bang.

The 27th annual tournament was held at St Benedict’s in Bedfordview due to the college’s 50m pool being out of commission.

With the easing of the lockdown, the tournament was grateful to once again welcome spectators in addition to hosting a live stream of all the games.

“The weekend was an awesome one with some really great polo games on offer.

“With the updated Government Gazette being released late on Friday [October 15], we were grateful to welcome spectators back onto our campuses to enjoy the action live,” said the school in a statement.

Reddam Constantia dominated the girls section, finishing in first place. St Stithians Girls College finished in second place while Crawford Lonehill took home third place.

The Girls College’s Derryn Wedderburn took home the award for best defender of the day.

In the boys’ section, St Stithians Boys’ College finished in fourth place.

“It was great to be back this year after not being able to host in 2020 and we look forward to hosting the whole memorable tournament back on site at our Saints Aquatics Centre next year.”
