Lycée Jules Verne learners run for a good cause

MORNINGSIDE – The school was able to raise the funds for Children of the Dawn through individual donations as well as T-shirt sales.

Lycée Jules Verne French International School in Morningside raised more than R35 000 for the Children of the Dawn non-profit organisation through its annual Cross fun run.

The Cross, hosted on October 15, is a long standing school sports event. Learners of the pre-primary right up to the high school, who have been training since the beginning of the school year, come together to compete.

“[This year] saw more than 1 000 learners from the Johannesburg [Sandton] and Pretoria campus competing in the cross-country event,” said the school’s Nonhlanhla Kunene.

She added that even though parents were not able to attend the event, the school’s journalism clubs, Jeunes Reporters Internationaux and P’tit Jules, were on the ground reporting live via their YouTube and Instagram pages.
