SANDTON – This donation follows a long-standing relationship that Sandton City has with Rays of Hope.

Following a successful Park, Pay and We Will Pay it Forward campaign, Sandton City recently donated R700 000 of parking income to non-profit organisation Rays of Hope.

The organisation, which started in Hurlingham in 1991, aims to enable individuals and families to improve all aspects of their lives by creating a lasting impact.

This donation follows a long standing relationship that Sandton City has with Rays of Hope.

The shopping centre has supported the non-profit in many ways over the past few years in an attempt to bridge the gap between the disparities that exist between Sandton and Alexandra.

According to Sandton City general manager Preston Gaddy, the donation will contribute towards 65 young children receiving good formative early childhood education.

“Early childhood development is a fundamental part of enabling a child to succeed to their full potential in life,” said Gaddy.

Rays of Hope CEO Sihle Mooi added that the donation would go far towards providing quality education to the children who attend the early childhood development centre in Swetla.

“We are also excited about the young people from Alex who are given part-time employment opportunities at Sandton City.”
