Paying it forward for brave community members

KYA SANDS – Community members in Kya Sand were handed food parcels as a token of thanks for their efforts in keeping the community safe.

Douglasdale Community Policing Forum (CPF) paid it back to Kya Sands community members with food parcels on August 13.
Various businesses in Gauteng and Kwa-Zulu Natal were affected by the looting in July and the Kya Sands community stood as one to protect their community and businesses.

According to the director of Universal Paint in Kya Sands Rhone Diab, the store had worked alongside the CPF to put together food parcels as a token of appreciation for those in the community who had assisted during the looting.

CPF chairperson Lizzy Mabena said, “We at the Douglasdale CPF would like to commend the brave actions of the community members who stood up during such unprecedented scenes to protect their community assets.”
