Alleged thieves arrested

RANDBURG – Police arrest four suspects for being possession of stolen goods.

Two suspects aged 42 and 40 are due to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court to face charges of being in possession of suspected stolen properties and a jamming device.

Randburg Police Station spokesperson, Makgowanyana Maja explained that at 14:45 on August 26, police officers received a complaint about a suspicious vehicle with a false registration plate in Bryanston. “They rushed to the area and on their arrival, they noticed the vehicle stationary. When they approach on foot, the suspects sped off,” Maja said.

“They chased the vehicle until they stopped it at Malibongwe Drive. The suspect were searched and found in possession of a laptop, phones, jamming device including other car-breaking implements. The suspects were both arrested.”

Meanwhile on August 23 another two suspects were arrested in Bryanston for being in possession of a stolen phone. “While the police are trying so hard to curb theft out vehicles and robberies at the intersections, we are still appealing to our community to work with us by not leaving their valuables in sight of the potential criminals. Make sure that your valuables are safeguarded all the time.”

Station Commander, Brigadier Michelle Jones thanked the police officers for their quick response as well as members of the community for reporting suspicious activity in their area.
