Making lasting change in the community

BRYANSTON – The Transform Your Life Foundation aims to make a lasting change in the Alexandra community.

With a passion for empowering the community around her, Bryanston resident Nthabeleng Hadebe lends a helping hand in Alexandra.

Through her non-profit, the Transform Your Life Foundation, Hadebe recently took to Alexandra to aid in the clean-up at the Pan Africa Shopping Centre in Wynberg that was vandalised and damaged during the recent unrest experienced across the city.

With family and friends living in the Alexandra area, Hadebe saw first-hand just how bad the looting and vandalism affected businesses and employment in the community.

“Seeing all of their [the community’s] hard work go up in smoke during the riots and looting made me more determined to work with the community to rebuild their lives and show the world that working together we can achieve more and overcome any adversity,” Hadebe said.

She added that it was heart-warming to come together with the community at the clean-up and engage with those who needed further assistance.

“South Africans have the spirit of Ubuntu, which is humanity, centred around working together as a community to help each other.”

Hadebe added that, beyond this, her foundation aims to make a lasting change in the Alexandra community.

“I am in the process of establishing a career guidance and life skills centre for underprivileged young women from surrounding communities in Alexandra and Diepsloot to empower and mentor them to become self-confident community leaders, living a balanced healthy lifestyle with a sense of purpose of focused career goals.”
