Police arrest two suspects for possession of a hijacked car in Marlboro South

MARLBORO SOUTH – Mogodi urges law-abiding citizens to provide police with any crime-related information.

Police arrested two suspects for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle in Marlboro South on July 31.

Spokesperson for Bramley Police Station Captain Molefe Mogodi said Flying Squad members were on duty patrolling the Bramley policing area when they received information to look out for the alleged hijacked vehicle.

“The members immediately proceeded to the given address. Through the help of tracker control officials, the members managed to track the location of the vehicle and finally found it in Marlboro South at the corner of 2nd Street and Florence Mophosho,” said Mogodi.

The police found two men working on the vehicle and they could not explain to the officers how they came to be in possession of the vehicle.

The officers searched the men and the vehicle and found an unlicensed firearm on one of the men with the serial numbers filed off.

“Further information revealed that the vehicle, a silver Toyota Corolla sedan, was allegedly hijacked on July 29 in Marlboro by two armed men who were unknown to the complainant. The matter has since been reported to police and is under investigation.”

Mogodi said the two men would appear in court soon to answer to charges of possession of a hijacked motor vehicle.

He urged law-abiding citizens to provide police with any crime-related information.
