Libraries across the City reopen

SANDTON – The libraries were closed on account of the adjusted level 4 lockdown.

Public libraries across the City of Johannesburg have once again reopened their doors.

According to a statement by the City’s Library and Information Services, libraries reopened on July 28, with the exception of the Brixton, Ennerdale Ext 9 and Johannesburg City libraries.

The libraries were closed on account of the adjusted Level 4 lockdown.

“All libraries will be open between the hours of 09:00 to 16:00 from Monday to Thursday.”

Members of the public will be permitted into the libraries to study, and borrow and return library books.

Reference services are also available through telephone enquiries.

Access to the Wi-Fi will be given within the library parameters, following strict physical distance protocols.

The use of in-house library books, library computers and photocopy services are not permitted.

“Full library services will be reinstated only when the identified challenges associated with Covid-19 risks are resolved and the risk of infection is reduced,” read the statement.

The Sandton Library, located on Nelson Mandela Square, is open on Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 16:00.

The library can be contacted on 011 282 5911.
