Public and private vaccination sites reopen

SANDTON – Both private and public vaccination sites were affected.

Public and private vaccinations sites are once again operating at full capacity.

This follows the temporary closures of various sites across the City of Johannesburg as a result of the civil unrest experienced earlier in the week.

According to of Johannesburg spokesperson Virgil James, of the city’s 26 non-medical sites, 25 are operating as normal.

The site in Region G’s Freedom Park remains closed for security reasons.

Discovery South Africa and Momentum Metropolitan have also reopened their vaccination sites.

The vaccination sites were temporarily closed on July 12 and 13 as a precautionary measure.

“We are taking precautionary measures to keep our people safe and ask for your patience as some of our services may take longer than normal,” said Discovery.

Discovery has sites in Sandton and Midrand while has sites in Sandton and Doringkloof.

The City of Johannesburg continues to encourage residents to get vaccinated.

As of July 15 persons between the age of 35 and 49 were able to register for their vaccines.

“The city continues to encourage residents to register as soon as possible and not be hesitant,” said James.

To receive the vaccine members of the community must pre-register on the Electronic Vaccine Data System (EVDS).
