Over R200 000 raised for Sadag through Circle Run

PARKMORE – Local resident Henry Cock rallied together a group of runners to support his fundraiser in aid of the South African Depression and Anxiety Group.

Parkmore resident Henry Cock handed over a cheque for R200 000 to the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (Sadag) on 29 July.

This follows the successful Circle Run held at Pirates Sports Club on 5 June in the lead-up to Cock’s Guinness World Record attempt to run 133 consecutive half marathons over 133 days.

Cock, who is a member of Pirates Road Running Club, started the Mentally Aweh fundraising campaign to raise funds and awareness about depression, anxiety and other mental health challenges faced by many South Africans.

The money raised through the Circle Run would be put towards a Sadag satellite office to assist residents of Ivory Park.

Road running chair at Pirates Club Natalie Mills said, “A huge thank you goes to all our runners, donors and organisers.”

Cock will begin his record-breaking run from Kosi Bay on 8 July.
