100% pass rate for Lycée Jules Verne

MORNINGSIDE – The learners achieved a 100% pass rate in the Baccalauréat exams, 89% of which passed with mention (distinction) and 27% with more than one distinction.

It was a morning of laughter and excitement on June 25 as the learners of Lycée Jules Verne celebrated a victorious year.

The terminale (Grade 12) learners achieved a 100% pass rate in the Baccalauréat exams, 89% of which passed with mention (distinction) and 27% with more than one distinction.

According to the school’s Nonhlanhla Kunene, the French Baccalauréat, popularly referred to as the Bac, is the diploma that marks the competition of the French Lycée (high school) programme and follows the curriculum guidelines established by the French Ministry of Education.

“The French Baccalauréat is widely recognised around the world and provides Lycée Jules Verne students with a pathway to top universities around the world,” said Kunene.

Despite the challenges of the 2020–2021 academic year, the school was able to uphold this tremendous pass mark for a sixth consecutive year.

“It has been a tumultuous year for our terminale learners. I am incredibly proud of our Class of 2021 and it is wonderful to see that all their hard work has paid off,” said school head Emmanuel Marqui.

She added that not only were the learners forced to adapt to the Covid-19 global crisis but the class also excelled in their academic achievements.

“The outstanding results are proof of the quality of our learning practices and I would like to thank our experienced, passionate and dedicated pedagogical staff for all of their hard work.”
