23 suspects booked at Sandton Police Station

SANDTON – Sandton Police Station appeals to the community to remain cautious and exercise safety.

It was a successful week for Sandton police as 23 suspects were arrested for various crimes from 13 to 21 June.

According to Sandton police spokesperson Captain Bheki Xulu the following arrests were made:

  • Two suspects were arrested for being in possession of a suspected stolen property.
  • One suspect was arrested for rape and robbery.
  • Three suspects were arrested for theft and an additional three for shoplifting.
  • One suspect was arrested for dealing drugs and another for dealing marijuana.
  • One suspect was arrested for being in possession of marijuana.
  • Two suspects were arrested for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and an additional two for common assault (domestic violence).
  • Two suspects were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol while one suspect was arrested for breaking curfew under the Disaster Management Act.

Xulu noted that sliding doors were the main point of entry in house robberies as they were often left unlocked.

“Whether the sliding door is in the lower floor or upper of the house/apartment, it must be locked properly.”

“[The] community is requested to follow the safety measures when leaving or sleeping in their houses or any dwelling by ensuring the windows, doors and sliding doors are properly locked,” said Xulu.
