Here is how you can keep your child safe online while raising money for their school

SANDTON – An online system that is aimed to protect your child online and raise R20 000 toward their school.

Be In Touch has launched its R1 000 000 fundraising campaign to keep children safe online.

Be In Touch is an organisation that assists children and parents in digital wellness through school talks, online learning experiences and more with an aim to make sure that parents and children are educated, connected and protected.

With this week being Child Protection Week, their #share2protect campaign is open to all South African primary schools. The main goal of the campaign is to keep children safe online by removing online risks for children, which include access to pornography, cyberbullying and grooming.

Primary schools who choose to join the campaign will not only be contributing to the protection of their learners and children all over the globe but will also tap into much-needed fundraising for their schools while doing good.

How does it work?

Once a school registers for the campaign, they will be issued a unique #share2care website link

  • The link will allow the parents of the children in the school to give consent to share facial pictures of their children between 3 and 13 years old
  • This is a safe, secure and legal compliant process
  • No identities will be shared, tracked or will be used for any other purpose than that of training in the system.

Yoti, the system, will track the photo submission for each school using the unique link and has pledged to donate R20 per picture submitted which guarantees each school the opportunity of raising up to R20 000 in funding.

How to apply?
South African schools’ staff members can email their interest to share2protect@yoti.com with their school’s name in the subject line, phone number and the name of the school staff member who will be administrating their school’s #share2care campaign in the email body.
