Cover Drive Cricket School is looking to dominate the winter league ahead.
The cricket school is looking forward to the league which kicked off this month. Head coach Sydwell Ndlovu noted that it was good to see the players back on the pitch once again.
Admittedly, returning to the pitch in line with the revised lockdown regulations and parents not being allowed at games and practices was a challenge, but the players have continued to perform at their best.
According to Ndlovu the summer league was a complete success. “We had a really good season [during the summer league] with each of our teams and we are hoping that we can be promoted next year. It is great to see the players back on the pitch after such a long time.”
Interest in the cricket school had also dramatically grown throughout the year which was great for the winter league.
He added that another positive for the league ahead was that all of the games would also be live-streamed online for spectators to watch. “At the end of the day, cricket is a family sport so this will be great for the players and the parents.
“It definitely is sad to see parents watching their children playing from the streets and behind fences but it translates to the type of commitment that these parents have and how passionate they are about supporting their children.”
Cover Drive Cricket School is also extremely excited about its partnership with Bryanston High School whereby learners of the school can play for the cricket school and the school will in turn help to develop the school’s cricket teams.
“It is our goal to grow the game for the school itself as well as in the surrounding areas.”
