JOBURG – Paul Mpe (44) was arrested following an assault case which was registered against him.

The Alexandra Magistrates’ Court recently convicted and sentenced a man to five years’ direct imprisonment for assaulting his girlfriend.

Paul Mpe (44) was arrested following an assault case that was registered against him.

“It was on the 4 October 2020 during the night when the accused severely assaulted his girlfriend leaving her unconscious. She was then taken to hospital to receive medical treatment,” said Bramley Police Station spokesperson Captain Molefe Mogodi.

The community alerted the police who traced the accused and arrested him.

Mogodi added that the victim succumbed to her head injuries.

“Bramley management welcomes the sentence given by the court. The sentence will serve as deterrence to those who do not respect women and children,” he said.

Detective Sergeant Mtshweni is also commended for the hard work that had carried out his mandate.
