The Rays of Hope Foundation aims to help the next generation of great mothers

HURLINGHAM – The Young Moms’ Support Group aims to create a safe and supportive environment for teenage mothers under the age of 20.

Local non-profit organisation Rays of Hope Foundation launched its support group for young mothers on 19 March.

“Becoming a mom when you’re still almost a child yourself is incredibly tough. For girls who get pregnant in high school and the years right after school, it’s difficult to tell what the next few months and years will look like,” said the foundation’s Thando Duma on social media.

The Young Moms’ Support Group aims to create a safe and supportive environment for teenage mothers under the age of 20. “This is a safe space in a non-judgmental environment where the young moms are respected and loved.”

The foundation hopes to help the next generation of great mothers. “They [mothers] get the opportunity to talk about changing plans, finishing school, career paths, finances, relationships, friendships and much more.”

Rays of Hope would like to thank the community for the donations of baby clothes, toys and baby food thus far for young mothers and their babies.

Anyone interested in making a donation can contact Rays of Hope Foundation on 011 784 6214.
