Bryanston High siblings in the ‘Hunt’ for gold

BRYANSTON – Bryanston High School is extremely proud of both learners as they are extremely hard workers who deserve all the success and victories that they achieve.

Bryanston High School siblings Megan and Matthew Hunt each take home podium finishes in the recent Gauteng Laser-Run Championships.

Held in Brakpan last month, Megan placed first in the girls’ U19 modern pentathlon where she completed four 800m laps, each preceded by hitting five targets at a distance of 10m away with a pistol.

Matthew placed second in the boys’ U15 category of the modern pentathlon which included four laps of 400m, each preceded by hitting five targets at a distance of 5m with a pistol. Matthew also placed first in his age group and second across all age groups in the province in the tetrathlon event.

The tetrathlon is the predecessor of the full modern pentathlon, composing four out of the five disciplines of the modern pentathlon – swimming, running, shooting and fencing. All four events take place on the same day and the points are awarded for each event and added together for a final score.

Both siblings are also set to represent Gauteng in the South African Championships later this month in Somerset West after receiving their Gauteng provincial colours.
