Sandton police arrest 150 suspects in February

SANDTON – Station commander Brigadier Egen Moodley requested that the community work together with police and other law enforcement agencies to discourage criminal activity.

Sandton police were pleased to see the arrest of 150 suspects for various crimes during the month of February.

A spokesperson for the Sandton Police Station Captain Bheki Xulu said, “A big applause to all the partners in fighting crime in the area who are always there to make sure that the perpetrators are processed and behind bars.”

The suspects were arrested in connection with the following crimes: shoplifting (22), sexual offences (12), assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (4), recklessness and negligence (11), driving under the influence (26), theft (16), possession of dagga (9), possession of drugs (4), possession of suspected stolen goods (7), possession of an unlicensed firearm (3), possession of dangerous weapons (3), possession of a suspected hijacked vehicle (7), fraud (7), malicious damage to property (3), intimidation (2), rape (2), biking (1), perjury (1), housebreaking and theft (1), dealing in dagga (2), pointing of a firearm (1), contravention of the road traffic act (1), contravention of the Disaster Management Act under Covid-19 (1), possession of a stolen vehicle (1), domestic violence (1) and common assault (2).
