Full marks for St David’s Marist Inanda

SANDOWN – St David's Marist Inanda has a 100 per cent pass rate for their matric Class of 2020.

The Covid -19 pandemic has revealed much character in the learners from St David’s Marist Inanda. Head prefect Nqubeko Mthabela proved this when he quoted James Lane Allen in a virtual address to the boys of the school – “Adversity does not build character, it reveals it.”

Through much determination, the school received a 100 per cent pass rate with 97 per cent bachelor degree pass.

Headmaster Mike Thiel was excited with these exceptional results and effort shown by the boys.

“We are proud of the results achieved by our matric Class of 2020 and celebrate their academic excellence and personal character. We are delighted that our boys can move on to the next step of their educational and life journey with the necessary academic qualifications to supplement the character they have developed and the values they have deepened at St David’s Marist Inanda,” he said.

He added that he was extremely pleased with the results from their top achievers. Four of the boys achieved eight distinctions, two learners seven, another two with six and 11 boys attaining five distinctions.

Nicholas Carr has 8 distinctions with 99 per cent in math and 92 per cent in ap math.

“A collective 222 distinctions were achieved by 121 full-time students, and notable distinction rates were achieved in accounting 24 per cent, business 32 per cent, drama 50 per cent, economics 100 per cent, geography 27 per cent, German 100 per cent, history 48 per cent, information technology 28 per cent, IsiZulu 28 per cent, life orientation 22 per cent, life sciences 24 per cent, math literacy 68 per cent, math 37 per cent and physical sciences 20 per cent.”

Their top two learners obtained a 94 and 92 per cent average with both of them achieving 99 per cent for math.
