Brescia House reads aloud

BRYANSTON – The Brescia learners were eager to read their books which includes classics such as The Railway Children, The Secret Garden & The Borrowers and Wonder

The Grade 6 learners at Brescia House School celebrated World Read Aloud Day on 3 February.

For 12 years, World Read Aloud Day had celebrated the importance of sharing stories by challenging learners to grab a book, find an audience and read aloud.

Although the initiative was first created by the non-profit organisation LitWorld and literacy expert Pan Allyn, it is celebrated today in over 173 countries.

The Brescia learners were eager to read their books, which included classics such as The Railway Children, The Secret Garden, The Borrowers and Wonder, during their reading lessons.

“Our girls are loving the opportunity to read together in socially distanced groups. They are exploring texts and authors which they might not choose for themselves, as well as developing their reading skills and vocabulary,” said Grade 6 English teacher Wendy Sauthoff.
