Sandton police are investigating an attempted murder case following the shooting of two men by an unknown man at an estate’s gate in Sandown at 4.20pm on 3 February.
A spokesperson for the Sandton Police Station Captain Bheki Xulu said that the complainant stated that he and his four family members were in their car, arriving home after having lunch at a Morningside restaurant. When the family approached the gate to the estate, a silver VW Polo was behind them.
“One man came out from the VW Polo wearing all black gear with a mask. He started opening fire at the complainant’s vehicle randomly,” said Xulu.
“Two of the victims, aged 26 and 59, were shot while they were in the car. The complainant drove the car inside the estate and the suspects turned away.”
The two victims were taken to the neighbouring hospital for medical treatment.
“The motive of the incident is not clear. At this stage, police are following possible information that may lead to the arrest of these suspects.”
An attempted murder case was opened at the Sandton SAPS for further investigation.
