United, we ‘Can’ do it! says Wendywood CAN

SANDTON – Coordinator Sharon Lefkowitz thanks the community for its continued support but emphasises that the communities work is however never done.

The community continues to look out for its own.

The Wendywood and Morningside Manor Community Action Network (Can) kicked off its latest round of donations on 21 January.

The network, which has extended to include Sandown Estates, parts of Gallo Manor, Woodmead, Sunninghill and Paulshof, has, without fail, made weekly donations of food, clothing and toys to a number of non-profit organisations, orphanages and other beneficiaries in the Marlboro and Alexandra areas.

Recently, because schools are only set to open in February, the network has begun encouraging donations of worksheets, puzzles and new or gently used stationery in order to create activity packs for the learners in the community.

Coordinator Sharon Lefkowitz thanks the community for its continued support but emphasises that the community’s work is, however, never done. “[This] is purely a community of a handful of the most generous and kindest people who have continued from last year to open their hearts and purses to continue to help the most vulnerable beneficiaries that we have been assisting in and around Marlboro and Alexandra,” she said.

The network is appealing for more donations and volunteers to join in. Learners can also earn community service hours.
