Brescia House embraces online learning

BRYANSTON – A majority of these schools were scheduled to welcome learners back on campus this January prior to the announcement.

The return to school was less than normal for many of the learners and schools in the Sandton and Bryanston area.

Following the announcement by Deputy Minister of the Department of Basic Education Reginah Mhaule, revising the reopening date for schools to 15 February, many private schools have made the transition back to online learning. A majority of these schools were scheduled to welcome learners back on campus this January prior to the announcement.

The transition back to online has been an effortless one for many schools given the experience and knowledge gained from the previous academic year. For Brescia House School in Bryanston, the academic year began on a calm and positive note.

According to Helga Bishop, head of marketing and admission at Brescia, the return to online learning was made easy because the school was recognised as a Microsoft Showcase School in 2013 and most of its teachers were recognised as Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts.

“All of these years of training and innovation laid the foundation for the unexpected, when schools across the country had to suddenly come to grips with remote learning during a nationwide lockdown at the end of March last year,” said Bishop.

This time around the girls have settled with confidence and diligence into their online learning. “Thank you to all the parents for assisting their daughters with connecting successfully, we are so proud of our girls for their continued dedication to their work.”

She added that the school remained flexible to meet any changes that may arise. “[Brescia] will continue with the academic programme, whether onsite, online or a hybrid version.”
