Rose-Act ready for a year of possibilities

SANDTON – School manager Bafana Mohale remains positive for the year ahead as the community at large continues to support the school.

The Rose-Act Saturday School family is excited to once again welcome its learners in the new year.

The Saturday school, a branch of the Rays of Hope Foundation, is scheduled to open on 30 January. It is run by an array of inspiring and motivated tutors and teachers who assist the learners to better understand their school work and improve their academic performance.

“Rose-Act has become a family and the tutors foster a great relationship with their learners,” said the school manager Bafana Mohale.

He outlined that for this year the tutors would focus on the subject content that the learners missed out on during the hard lockdown. “We are prioritising certain concepts in the mathematics and English curriculum in order to try our best in getting our learners on par with where they ought to be by the end of the 2021 academic year.”

Mohale remains positive for the year ahead as the community at large continues to support the school. So much so that earlier this month the school received its first big donation for the year in the form of 450 stationery packs from Empact Group.

While stationery is something that most people overlook, this donation means the world to these learners. “Education to some of our learners is not the easiest of things to comprehend because of their background and psychosocial realities, thus being able to receive their stationery packs on their first day of school, makes these learners look forward to the school year with much enthusiasm and excitement.
“Stationery is the last thing most parents in Alex think about because in most cases they have to decide whether they are buying stationery or food. Our learners can now start the year with the correct ‘tools’ in order to get the job done during their academic year.”

The school also hopes to run a school shoe drive this winter as most of its learners walk to school. “[It] would really be a great blessing to these learners and perhaps that could include a dry mac or a school jersey.”
