Sandton CPF tells us about their year

SANDTON– The Sandton CPF is proud of its first year with a new board. highlighting their wins, it was a successful year for the local CPF.

The Sandton Community Policing Forum (CPF) had their first year with a new board, while faced with many challenges, the tenacity and strength of the members of the CPF and community shone through.

Public relations officer Roshan Byjnal said that a big highlight for the year was strengthening their relationship with the Sandton Police Station.

“Our relationship with SAPS continues to strengthen and has grown throughout the Covid-19 pandemic primarily as a product of the CPF and Sandton SAPS being more supportive of each other through these times.”

Byjnal added that they would like to see more community involvement in the suburb and dispel the notion that the CPF is only involved in the crime aspect of the community.

“It is important to note that the CPF is a vehicle for the community and everyone should want to get involved in being aware of what’s happening in our community. Involvement does not only mean being out in the streets as a patroller, one can volunteer services and skills, too,” he said.

With that recruitment, drives will be on the agenda for 2021 and more fundraising efforts.

“The CPF does, unfortunately, incur costs during its services not only limited to administration but also assisting in the upkeep of the Sandton Police Station, the Joint Operations room and the newly launched Victim Friendly Room at Gallo Manor Police Station, amongst other little projects.”

They would also like to create and be part of more initiatives involving the community and create more community awareness within Sandton.

“This year has been a tough and testing one for all. Our hope is that whatever everyone chooses to do, they act responsibly, do it safely, travel, and return safely. Covid-19 is not over yet – please wear your masks and sanitise often.”
