Man arrested for possession of stolen vehicle and unlicensed firearm

According to Sandton Police Station spokesperson Captain Bheki Xulu, sector police stopped a man driving a Toyota RunX on the evening of 9 November.


A 28-year-old man has appeared in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle and an unlicensed firearm.

According to Sandton Police Station spokesperson Captain Bheki Xulu, sector police stopped a man driving a Toyota RunX on the evening of 9 November. “The police searched the vehicle and tested it. The vehicle result came back as a stolen vehicle under a Norwood case.”

Upon further investigation, police found the suspect to be in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

“A set of number plates was also recovered inside the vehicle. Police are looking for possibilities to link the suspect with other criminal activities as the investigation continues,” Xulu concluded.

The station commander and Sandton police management applauded the members on a job well done.
