The Sandton Police Tracing Team made a breakthrough when they apprehended a 33-year-old man for a house robbery which took place in River Road, Bryanston.
Sandton police spokesperson Captain Bheki Xulu said, “It is alleged that on 11 July 2011 at about 11.45am, the suspect and his friend went to a house in River Road, Bryanston, where they found a 30-year-old man who was working outside. They beat him, locked him in a room and searched the house looking for laptops and jewellery. Their operation was disturbed by an alarm which went off.”
Xulu said the suspects took a Canon camera to the value of R2 000.
He added that the suspect was traced and arrested on 28 October this year and would face charges of house robbery and theft.
The suspect will appear in the Alexandra Regional Court in due course.
The Sandton Station Commander Brigadier Egene Moodley is requesting the community to come forward with information to assist in the investigation.
