Sandton house robber handed 15-year sentence

The Alexandra Magistrate court has sentenced a man to fifteen years imprisonment for a house robbery in Sandown last year.

The Alexandra Magistrate’s Court sentenced a man on 15 September to fifteen years’ imprisonment for a house robbery in Sandown committed last year.

Bongani Khoza (31) was armed when he forced his way into the house through the back door before threatening the family and demanding money.

According to Bramley Police Station spokesperson Captain Molefe Mogodi, Khoza was overpowered and apprehended by the victims in the house and handed over to the police.

“After thorough investigation, the suspect was finally brought to court to stand trial. It was through the hard work of the investigation officer that the man was convicted and sentenced after a lengthy trial where several witnesses have been called to testify,” added Mogodi.

Mogodi added that the station welcomes the conviction and hopes that it will restore the community’s faith in the justice system.
