Watering of gardens limited: City urges residents to remain water conscious

JOBURG – Level 1 water restrictions in the City of Joburg remain in place.

The City of Johannesburg would like to remind residents to continue to use water sparingly as Level 1 water restrictions remain in place.

“South Africa is a water-scarce country and at all times residents are reminded to conserve water,” said the City in a statement.

Residents must take note that the watering of gardens will not be allowed between 6am and 6pm during the summer period (1 September to 31 March).

In addition, residents will also not be allowed to wash paved areas and driveways using hosepipes.

Residents can practise water conservation by following these recommended water-saving tips:

“Water restrictions will be enforced by fines to consumers who contravene the water services by-laws,” added the City.

Residents are also urged to report non-compliance to the Johannesburg Metro Police Department 24/7 hotline on 011 375 5911 or email mukonas@joburg.co.za

Burst pipes, leaking water meters and open hydrants can be reported to Joburg Water:
