The Gauteng Department of Health has confirmed that Johannesburg’s suburbs of Region E have reached 10 936 Covid-19 recoveries as of 18 August.
The region, which includes Alexandra, Wynberg, Sandton, Orange Grove and Houghton, has a confirmed total of 13 179 cases.
Also in the northern suburbs, Region B recorded 8 780 cases and 7 958 recoveries.
Suburbs in the region include Randburg, Rosebank, Emmarentia, Greenside, Melville, Mayfair, Northcliff, Parktown and Parktown North.
The Johannesburg district recorded 81 017 cases and 71 474 recoveries while 1 231 people have lost their lives to the novel virus.
A total of 365 cases and 53 recoveries remain unallocated.
