Local coffee shop delivers coffee for health workers every Friday

To show appreciation for all their hard work, The Daily Coffee Café Bryanston started a #FrontlineFriday initiative to deliver coffee to Mediclinic Morningside health workers.

Health workers have been at the forefront of helping fight the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak since the first case was reported in March.

To show appreciation for all their hard work, The Daily Coffee Café Bryanston started a #FrontlineFriday initiative to deliver coffee to Mediclinic Morningside health workers on Fridays. “The Daily Coffee Café Bryanston is reaching out to the front-line health workers at Mediclinic Morningside in our community during the heartbreaking Covid-19 pandemic. We support them by delivering complimentary coffee and a bite to eat, if possible, on a Friday. The drive behind this is encapsulated in the #FuelOurFrontline,” said Corlea van der Schyff, owner of The Daily Coffee Café Bryanston.

The #FrontlineFriday is an initiative that two of The Daily Coffee Group’s franchises in the Western Cape embarked upon in May 2020, The Daily Coffee Café Willowbridge Village and The Daily Coffee Café Kuilsriver. Since then, more and more The Daily Coffee Café franchises joined the movement.

Trudie Knoesen, doctor relationship manager at Mediclinic Morningside said, “We have been receiving a number of coffees from them on a weekly basis for our healthcare workers. They write encouraging messages on the container for the staff and it has been very well received.”

Van der Schyff said, “Our #FrontlineFriday outreach allows our customers to financially sponsor the coffee and refreshments that we deliver to the hospital, thereby becoming part of those who actively care for the front-line health workers in our community.”

Sponsors may remain anonymous if they wish or their names and/or a short message can be written on each cup of coffee that they sponsor.

The initiative is linked to an indisputable emotion that runs like a golden thread within The Daily Coffee Group: “I am thankful for today.” This very same spirit of gratitude is also the inspiration behind the #FrontlineFriday outreach during the Covid-19 pandemic.”

This specific initiative will run during the Covid-19 pandemic,” added van der Schyff. They have already delivered more than 100 coffees with a variety of treats. “I would advise everyone to reach out to community projects first, to see if and how they would be able to assist. Sometimes these projects could do with an extra pair of hands; it doesn’t have to be financial support,” she concluded.
