Redhill prioritises learners and educators for reopening

MORNINGSIDE – According to executive head Joseph Gerassi both the learners and educators have seemingly adapted to the ‘new normal’.

Redhill School confidently welcomes its learners back onto campus.

According to executive head Joseph Gerassi the school has placed great emphasis on the mental health of learners and teachers for the school’s reopening.

“The management team has invested extensive time and resources to ensure that ‘things’ were in place and ready. This sense of being ‘one step ahead’ has been a source of optimism for all,” he said.

In addition, the school has also implemented a number of stringent measures, assuring educators, learners and even parents of their safety.

“We have restructured the timetable to accommodate the limitations imposed by the lockdown [a maximum of 14 desks in a classroom], arrival and departure times have been staggered and limited access on our campus Gerassi detailed a number of the measures that the school has adopted.

According to Gerassi both the learners and educators have seemingly adapted to the ‘new normal’.

“The students are conducting themselves with care, generally recognising the importance and necessity of all the measures that have been put in place,” he said.

Educators have been quick to assume what Gerassi describes as a “business as usual attitude” despite the new and unfamiliar circumstances.

“Generally, the staff has been deeply appreciative of the school’s attention to detail and the communication thereof. This has boosted staff morale significantly and eased the transition period,” he added.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, parents have understandably recognised and applauded the school for its proactive approach.

“Many families have expressed their appreciation of the school’s cautiousness and willingness to be consultative and accommodating,” said Gerassi.
