38 per cent of Covid-19 cases in Region E remain active

JOBURG – Region E includes Alexandra, Wynberg, Sandton, Orange Grove and Houghton.

The Gauteng Department of Health has confirmed that 38 per cent of Covid-19 cases in Johannesburg’s northern suburbs of Region E, remain active, as of 7 June.

The department reported in its latest district and sub-district breakdown that region E recorded 497 cases and 307 recoveries.

Suburbs in Region E include Alexandra, Wynberg, Sandton, Orange Grove and Houghton.

Also in the northern suburbs, Region B recorded 429 cases and 201 recoveries, translating to 53 per cent of active cases.

Suburbs in Region B include Randburg, Rosebank, Emmarentia, Greenside, Melville, Mayfair, Northcliff, Parktown and Parktown North.

The City of Johannesburg confirmed 2 889 cases and 1 458 recoveries, 22 people have reportedly lost their lives.

Unallocated cases stand at 139 and recoveries at 84.
