Covid-19 cases in Gauteng rise to 4 567

A total of 256 people are currently hospitalised in public and private facilities.

The Gauteng Department of Health has confirmed that the number of Covid-19 cases in Gauteng stands at 4 567 cases with 2 222 recoveries and 33 deaths as of 3 June.

The department added that out of a total of 14 617 contacts traced, 10 805 people have completed the 14-day monitoring period with no symptoms reported and have therefore been de-isolated.

A total of 256 people are currently hospitalised in public and private facilities.

The City of Johannesburg remains the epicentre of the virus outbreak in the province with 2 175 cases, 1 275 recoveries and 15 deaths.

The remaining districts are as follows:

  • Ekurhuleni has recorded 937 cases, 540 recoveries and 10 deaths.
  • Tshwane has recorded 570 cases, 319 recoveries and four deaths.
  • Sedibeng has recorded 108 cases and 28 recoveries.
  • The West Rand has recorded 411 cases, 60 recoveries and four deaths.
  • 366 cases and 16 recoveries remain unallocated.

The sub-district breakdown is as follows:

Johannesburg

  • Region A recorded 251 cases and 195 recoveries.
  • Region B recorded 325 cases and 183 recoveries.
  • Region C recorded 211 cases and 109 recoveries.
  • Region D recorded 324 cases and 153 recoveries.
  • Region E recorded 395 cases and 294 recoveries.
  • Region F recorded 392 cases and 163 recoveries.
  • Region G recorded 144 cases and 93 recoveries.
  • 133 cases and 85 recoveries remain unallocated.

Tshwane

  • City of Tshwane 1 recorded 74 cases and 48 recoveries.
  • City of Tshwane 2 recorded 27 cases and 14 recoveries
  • City of Tshwane 3 recorded 182 cases and 105 recoveries
  • City of Tshwane 4 recorded 121 cases and 58 recoveries.
  • City of Tshwane 5 recorded 18 cases and five recoveries.
  • City of Tshwane 6 recorded 108 cases and 71 recoveries.
  • City of Tshwane 7 recorded 17 cases and 12 recoveries.
  • 23 cases and six recoveries remain unallocated.

Sedibeng

  • Lesedi recorded 12 cases and five recoveries.
  • Emfuleni recorded 66 cases and 19 recoveries.
  • Midvaal recorded 17 cases and four recoveries.
  • 13 cases remain unallocated.

West Rand

  • Mogale City recorded 113 cases and 42 recoveries.
  • Rand West City recorded 37 cases and 14 recoveries.
  • Merafong City recorded 207 cases and 4 recoveries.
  • 54 cases remain unallocated.
