The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in South Africa now stands at 24 264 with 12 741 recovered, as announced by the Department of Health on 26 May.
This is an increase of 649 cases.
The Western Cape accounts for 65.2 per cent of the national total with 15 829 cases.
The death toll has risen by 43 bringing the total number of deaths to 524.
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said that an overall 605 991 tests had been conducted thus far while 9 214 were conducted in the last 24 hours.
Of those, 6 147 were conducted in private facilities and 3 067 in public.
The remaining province breakdown is as follows:
- Easter Cape – 2 864
- Free State – 206
- Gauteng – 3 043
- KwaZulu-Natal – 1 927
- Limpopo – 132
- Mpumalanga – 103
- North West – 115
- Northern Cape – 45
