Redhill puts a creative spin on the lockdown

MORNINGSIDE – Redhill School’s out-of-the-box thinking saw its Grade 9 art learners recreate their favourite art pieces from the Getty Museum.

Redhill School’s Grade 9 art class have been enjoying virtual gallery tours during the lockdown.

In response to a call by the Getty Museum to recreate any of its art pieces, the learners have adopted an out-of-the-box approach to fully embrace the challenge.

According to learner Jessica Stutchbury, she has enjoyed participating in the challenge as it can be difficult to remain positive during this time.

“Art is a way of expressing your thoughts and feelings, being creative and keeping your brain active. Art connects us, puts feelings into visual representation, and inspires us,” said Jessica.

“By doing art instead of doing nothing, you can make something that can inspire people and yourself to keep on creating,” she said.
