Afrika Tikkun Services continues to empower the youth during lockdown

JOBURG – The campaign is aimed at providing services that will help empower and keep the youth busy during and after the lockdown.

Afrika Tikkun Services in partnership with Harambee and the Solidarity Fund has launched the 3Million Youth campaign. It aims to reach more than 3 million young people across the country with messages that will empower them.

They will focus on empowering them to be agents of change for their communities during the extended Covid-19 lockdown period and beyond.

CEO of Afrikka Tikkun Onyi Nwaneri said, “Youth unemployment figures are at an all-time high and with the global pandemic shutting down companies and wreaking havoc on the economy, the fact is that we could come out of this in a far worse position than before in terms of employment opportunities. Saying that, the 3Million Youth campaign was created in order to keep our young people motivated through these uncertain times and to give them an opportunity to better equip themselves for life after lockdown.”

During this time of quarantine, the 3Million Youth campaign is supporting young people by helping them stay informed with credible information on Covid-19 and the national lockdown, as well as keeping their hope alive through engagement and connectedness with their peers.

By cutting through all the noise and fake news around the pandemic, the campaign is challenging young people to be smart and to change their behaviour to be safe. In line with its overarching objectives, the Afrika Tikkun Services campaign is also communicating tips on what youth can do to stay ready for work opportunities.

In addition, in partnership with Funzi and the United Nations, Afrika Tikkun Services has also launched two free and data-light courses for young people. The Funzi Now course empowers young South African’s to learn more about coronavirus whilst the Funzi Future Pack equips them with meaningful skills to develop themselves for a better future.

“So far, the campaign has already reached its target of 3 million youth and we are proud to have worked with amazing partners in the youth space to achieve this, but we can always do more. We are inviting eligible organisations in South Africa to join the initiative and use the campaigns factual content to reach young South Africans in their network,” added Nwaneri.
