Covid-19: CCIN still operational during lockdown

SAXONWOLD – CCIN founder Dr Reza Patel advises community members to self-isolate and follow advisories from the department of health.

Founder of Civilian Crime Intelligence Network (CCIN) Dr Reza Patel updated the Gazette on the status of the network during lockdown.

CCIN is a volunteer-based network that aims to work in proactive partnerships with citizens, police and governing jurisdictions in order to address crime.

Patel said, “Our primary function is to gather intelligence which then empowers our law agencies. A greater number of our members are classified as ‘essential services’ and are operationally active. We in the management committee are active both remotely and when needed actively, with the necessary permits.”

Patel said he believes the network is handling the lockdown challenges reasonably well. “The nature of the business always requires amongst others discipline, so for us it is merely an adaptation.”

According to Patel, self-isolation has taken place for non-operational members and meetings have been cancelled until the pandemic has cleared.

Patel advised the greater community as follows, “This virus kills en masse. It is no hoax nor something to toy with. Self-isolate, follow the advisories from the Ministry of Health to the letter. Be disciplined and follow the orders of our government. If you must move anywhere, ensure that you are fully sanitised before you engage others.”
