SuperMash inspires the youth

BRYANSTON – Meet Supermash, the seven-year-old superhero with a message about Covid-19.

Prince Mashawana the seven-year-old superhero from Sandton is also known as SuperMash.

A leader at his age, SuperMash was born to build confidence in the youth and develop their mindsets.

“They must know that they are strong enough to fight off all the issues that lead to the high rate of child and teenage suicides in South Africa. A superhero creates a foundation for kids and to reflect the best traits of the person they believe in. When we pretend to be super, it gives us a sense of control over a world that can seem big and scary,” he said.

He also said that this year alone the youth has had to overcome a lot. According to him, young people need a hero and find a hero in themselves as well. SuperMash was created to build other heroes every day.

For the next 21-days, he would like to develop an online course to teach the youth about how to tackle the virus.

“We need to be superheroes and educate members of our family and friends through social media and other platforms as much as we can. I will be working on new content so that I can keep our young people busy and occupied with things that will positively impacts their lives.”

A trailblazer, he also has a line of SuperMash sanitizer and has partnered with a proudly South African comic book publisher to take his concept to a fully professional level.

He has his own method of washing his hands and calls it ‘confidence time’. “I count to 20 but at the same time I do positive affirmation by saying things to myself, I am great, I am grateful, I am incredible, I am handsome, I am helpful, etc until the 20 seconds are up. I do this a few times a day.”

Confident and strong as just a young boy, SuperMash would like to encourage other young boys and girls to know that there is a superhero in each and every one of them too.

“If you believe in yourself and do the best you can, every day trying to improve and develop, anything in this world is open and possible for you.”
