Brescia celebrates great orienteering season

BRYANSTON – Brescia House celebrates a successful orienteering year as champion of the orienteering league.

Brescia House School has concluded another successful orienteering league.

As the season came to a close, the school became the champions of the orienteering league after placing top overall at the Schools League finals on 10 March at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens. Orienteering is a sport that combines both a physical and a mental element.

Sarah Wimberley, Natasha Hultzer and Tezni Loeve all had great runs, finishing in first, second and third in the finals. Tezni placed first overall with Megan Froneman in second and Natasha in third.

According to the school spokesperson Helga Bishop, the collective performance of the team in the previous league game resulted in eight of the Brescia House School girls being selected for the Schools League finals.

“It is tough terrain and they sat nervously quizzing each other on symbols and map legends while they waited for their start times,” she said.

These girls remain motivated for next season. “These fantastic results placed Brescia House School in top place overall – Champions of the Orienteering League for 2020.”
