Wanderers Club goes into lockdown

ILLOVO – Wanderers Club has decided to close its doors until further notice to protect its members and the greater community from Covid-19.

Chairman of the Wanderers Committee Colin Warner announced on 23 March that the club will be closing until further notice to protect members and the community from the Coronavirus.

Warner said that this was due to the growing number of South Africans testing positive for the virus.

“As testing of the population for Covid-19 gathers momentum, it is expected that the recorded numbers of South Africans who have tested positive will rise exponentially, placing immense pressure on healthcare facilities and increasing risks to all of us.”

“The Wanderers Club has a responsibility to our members and to the wider community and as a consequence, as from today, the club will be closing until further notice. The effect of this decision will result in the clubhouse, administration offices and all the sporting facilities being in lockdown.”
