Twitter users up in arms after stories feature to be tested on the app #RIPTwitter

JOBURG – Twitter users say they just wanted an edit button.

This is not what we wanted, Twitter users have been left bewildered by the announcement of the social media app giant of possibly adding stories feature.

Twitter users expressed that they would have liked an edit button, rather than a stories feature, which is prominent on Facebook and Instagram apps. The stories feature allows you to add an image, video or text that your followers or non-followers can view in 24 hours and then it disappears.

Twitter announced they will be testing the feature which will be called ‘fleets’. Kayvon Beykpour, the company’s product lead said they hope people share their fleeting thoughts, ‘that they would have been unlikely to tweet. This is a substantial change to Twitter’.

Some users on Twitter were not happy with the decision, #RIPTwitter was trending number one in South Africa. Some users said all three social media apps, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are basically the same thing now.

Other users not only wanted an edit button but also deleting wrong messages in direct messaging (DM) and quoting messages when replying to a DM.
