Lycée Jules Verne hosts spectacular carnival

MORNINGSIDE – Elsa, Anna and Cinderella were all in attendance as the Lycée Jules Verne French International School hosted it extravagant carnival parade to kick off its mid-term school break.

The Lycée Jules Verne French International School in Morningside hosted a spectacular carnival to kick of its mid-term break with a bang on 21 February. Learners came dressed to impress in a range of outfits before strutting down the street for the parade.

According to the school’s spokesperson Nonhlanhla Kunene, the carnival is a long-standing tradition at the international school where the learners, teachers and parents get to show off their creativity and have fun together.

“Everyone dressed up and walked the streets around the school showing off their beautiful costumes,” she said.

Guided by teachers, some learners made their own themed costumes in class, while some made them at home. “The likes of Donald Trump, princesses Elsa and Anna and even a few members from the band Kiss were all smiles as they joined in the parade around the school lead by the Bambanani Brass Band.”

This year, a group of judges had the hard task of identifying the best costumes in the primary school and high school sections. “A prize was also given out to the best-dressed parent and teacher. It was not an easy choice to make. Well done to all the winners! We can’t wait to see who wins next year.”
