In tweets: Executive Mayor Geoff Makhubo says February’s budget lekgotla must be people-driven

JOBURG – The Joburg Budget Lekgolta will take place over the next two days, with a strong focus on creating a city people can work, live and play in.

Speaking at the 2020 Mayoral Budget Lekgotla Programme, Executive Mayor for the City of Johannesburg, Geoff Makhubo said the City of Joburg was building a city for the people.

“What we do must always be people-driven. Thus, I urge all residents in the city of Johannesburg to participate actively,” he said.

Makhubo added that the City of Joburg consistently responded to the conditions of the city and its citizens within these four key pillars:

Makhubo said as a Government of local unity, they existed to respond to poverty, inequality and unemployment. “Our people want to see a government that serves them. A government that will deliver a better tomorrow and seeks to grow Johannesburg.

“In the last two months, as the Executive Mayor, I have taken time to engage with the various departments and entities of the City to try to understand where we are in terms of responding to the problems of the people of Johannesburg”

The Mayoral Budget Lekgotla Programme continues for the next two days.
