Brescia diver takes off

BRYANSTON – Brescia House School diver Julia Iles delivered phenomenal results at the RSA Cup and National Age Group Diving Championships.

Brescia House School learner Julia Iles obtained phenomenal results in the South African Cup and National Age Group Diving Championships for U14/15 in December last year.

The young diver placed 8th overall in the cup and 3rd in the age group diving for 3m platform, 4th in the 1m platform and 2nd in the 5m platform.

Although Julia only began her diving journey in Grade 5, she began competing competitively at the age of 12. “I had started diving at Kingfisher Aquatics Club and later moved to the Crusaders Diving Club. Last year, I competed in the Central Gauteng Aquatics Championships in March and, thereafter, I went to nationals and competed in the 1, 3 and 5-metre events,” she said.

Julia has remained a passionate and motivated diver even representing her school. “In the inter-schools event, I came 5th in the open category. During October, I competed in the South African Schools Championships where I competed against all the schools in South Africa – I placed 3rd overall in the open category,” she added.

“This is an outstanding achievement and we are very proud of her. Well done Julia!” the school noted on its Facebook page highlighting Julia’s achievement.
