Sandton SAPS joins in on first day excitement

SANDTON – Officers from the Sandton Police Station took the Safer Schools project to 15 schools in Sandton

With the start of a new school calendar, Sandton Police Station got involved by allocating police officers to the 16 identified schools in the Sandton policing precinct.

According to the station spokesperson Granville Meyer, the officers visited the schools on opening day on 15 January. “This is part of the Safer Schools project in conjunction with the Department of Basic Education. Listening to children and young people is an essential part of our role and the unique relationship our School Beat officers have with schools is invaluable,” he said.

Meyer added that learners in schools in Sandton are enabled to:

  • Make informed decisions about their behaviour
  • Have positive relationships with police officers
