Life imprisonment for house robber

SANDTON – 51-year-old Sipho Guliwe, who was convicted for murder and robbery by the Gauteng High Court on 10 October, was sentenced to life imprisonment.


Sipho Guliwe, who was convicted for murder and robbery by the Gauteng High Court on 10 October, was sentenced to life imprisonment on 9 December.

The 51-year-old male accosted the victim in her house in Riverclub before killing her with an unknown object. He stole her motor vehicle and belongings to the value of R280 000 on 22 December 2017. “The victim was found dead when police arrived on the scene,” said Sandton Police Station spokesperson Captain Granville Meyer.

Guliwe was arrested on 27 July 2018 by the investigating team.

“He was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and 15 years for robbery. The court has ordered that the sentences are to run concurrently,” Meyer added.
